Publisher's Weekly, the publishing industry's leading trade journal, has named "The Ledge of Quetzal - Beyond 2012" among the top 20 most promising titles from among mid-size publishers for the 2009-2010 season. The number of titles published each year has ballooned from as little as five years ago. Last year there were 250,000 new titles from within the commercial publishing industry, and another 250,000 self-published titles.
Red Wheel-Weiser-Conari, publishers of The Ledge of Quetzal, just completed a hugely successful show at Book Expo America at the Javits Center in New York City. Headed by Michael Kerber, the company has offices in Newburyport, Mass., and San Francisco. They're a mid-size publisher with big-time publisher clout, and prompt, personal, small-publisher response. The photo was taken at the Red Wheel-Weiser-Conari booth at the fair. From left is Bonni Hamilton, head of marketing, and Jan Johnson, Publisher.
